At Central Synagogue

Central Synagogue is a membership-based community. Our members have a voice in shaping this community, and demonstrate their commitment to its future, to the future of Reform Judaism, and to progressive Jewish values in the world.

Our Community

Central Synagogue is an inclusive and welcoming community. We encourage participation from all who seek a connection to Jewish life and want to be part of our sacred community regardless of religious background, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, ability, age, sexual orientation and gender identity. In order to best meet the needs of our community, we limit our membership to 2,500 households. To have your name added to our waiting list, please fill out the form below. We will contact you as space becomes available—we are typically able to extend an invitation to join within 18–24 months.

We encourage and welcome the larger community to engage with us. Much of our programming is open to all, including Shabbat worship, adult education, and social justice opportunities. We invite you to explore our calendar and experience the Central Synagogue community.

Benefits of Membership

The goal of the Central Synagogue community is to facilitate the creation of relationships: with each other, with our clergy, and with Judaism.

Members have the opportunity to:

  • Meet with our clergy for pastoral care
  • Attend High Holy Days member services
  • Enroll your children in our Nursery School and Lese Center for Living Judaism (K-12 program), including our B’nei Mitzvah program
  • Hold life-cycle events such as weddings and funerals in our Sanctuary
  • Rent our spaces for other purposes such as brises, meetings, and parties
  • Receive our members-only publications such as our Luach calendar-newsletter and notes from our clergy
  • Travel with us on trips to Israel and other Jewish communities around the world
  • Attend members-only events such as our Congregational Seder and Sukkot on the Farm
  • Join our CORE Groups and Chai Connections
  • Secure a place in Central’s section at Rose Hills Memorial Park cemetery

Central Synagogue is committed to the belief that finances should never be a barrier to being part of our community. If you’re unable to meet your membership or tuition obligations in full, please .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
