Yom HaShoah at Central
May 1, 2014 | General News | Worship and High Holidays
On Monday, April 28, 2014, clergy and congregants from Central Synagogue and St. Peter’s Church joined together in Central Synagogue’s Main Sanctuary for Holocaust Remembrance Day. Rabbi Rubinstein and Pastor Derr delivered heartfelt and emotionally-gripping remarks as they reflected on how the trauma of the Shoah still deeply affects both our faith-communities, 80 years later. Congregant Alice Greenwald, the director of the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum in downtown New York, spoke powerfully about why her full-time job “to never forget” is essential to each of our stories.
