A Look at Our History: December 2013

December 12, 2013 | General News

AIDS memorial quilt

In 1990 the Sisterhood of Central Synagogue participated in making a 3 foot by 6 foot quilt square, to be used in an enormous quilt as a memorial to those who had died of AIDS. This square was designed, hand embroidered and sewn at Central Synagogue.

In December we celebrate Chanukah, a time when Jews overcame many odds. Today, with the help of research and dedication, many AIDS victims are evermore able to do the same.
