Knowing Saves Lives: Symposium on Inherited Breast and Ovarian Cancer

On September 30, Central Synagogue hosted a symposium on inherited breast and ovarian cancer. Moderated by Barbara Walters, the panel of cutting-edge researchers and clinical oncologists included Dr. Carmel Cohen, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai; Dr. Susan Domchek, director at the Basser Research Benter for BRCA at the University of Pennsylvania; Dr. Noah Kauff, director of ovarian cancer screening and prevention at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; and Dr. Julia Smith, director of the breast cancer screening and prevention program at the NYU Cancer Institute.

Participating organizations included Basser Research Center for BRCA, Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Bright Pink, FORCE, the Foundation for Women’s Cancer, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, NYU Cancer Institute, Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, PREformances with Allison Charney at the JCC in Manhattan, Project Hope for Ovarian Cancer Research and Education, SHARE, and Sharsheret.
