Central Volunteers get a Head Start with the Educational Alliance
July 2, 2013 | Repairing the World
Monday, June 24th was a special day at PS 142 — Central members Shelly Mitchell, Cheryl Lexton, Katherine Adler, Barbara Goldberg, Laura Rothschild and Director of Member Services Caren Keller spent the morning in the Headstart program. Volunteers were integrated in the classroom activities, playing with the children and helping them decorate pots and plant flowers to take home to their families.
This volunteer event was organized by Shelly Mitchell as part of Central’s developing partnership with The Educational Alliance, which began in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. The Alliance pledged to schedule another visit during the summer, so volunteers can look forward to another wonderful day with the Headstart children.
