Talmudic Stories with Joe Septimus

Mondays, March 21 - May 23, 2022, 6:00 – 7:00 pm ET

Virtual

Join educator Joe Septimus as he continues his look at the Talmud. The Talmud is a complex treasure trove of stories, and not just the dry legal document it is often portrayed as. The stories, known as Aggadot in Hebrew, are rich in literary style, intellectually challenging ideas, dynamic and eternal conflicts. These stories confront the strengths and frailties of human nature, universal experiences, and the very nature of godliness. By exploring selected stories from Talmud, our discussions will enhance and deepen our appreciation of life’s wisdom, our amazing and complex universe, and Jewish values.

All texts will be available in English. You do not need to have studied Talmud before in order to join this class. We welcome new students!

Instructor: Joe Septimus

All sessions will meet online
