Thursday, February 3, 2022, 7:30–8:30 pm

Virtual

There are currently 82 million forcibly displaced people around the world, including more than 74,500 people from Afghanistan who have been granted temporary permission to live in the United States since the return of Taliban rule. In response to this crisis, Central is joining with hundreds of faith communities across the country to help resettle families by partnering with HIAS and launching the Central Welcome Project.

Join Rabbi Hilly Haber and members of the Central Welcome Project for a special conversation with Naomi Steinberg, Vice President of Policy and Advocacy at HIAS to learn how we can advocate and raise our voices together to address this global crisis.

Alanna Kate Cruz, Program Officer at HIAS NY, and HIAS Board Member and Chair of the Central Welcome Project Jane Ginns will also share what Central Synagogue and other New York faith institutions are doing right now to support families relocating to the New York area.

Members can find the link to register in their Weekly email, all others are invited to watch live on Facebook.
