Important Update

The Hartman Institute sent the following email on March 5, 2020.

After careful deliberation about the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), and listening to community partners, we have decided to call off our public day of learning scheduled for this Sunday, March 8, 2020.

Given the many unknowns regarding this particular illness we must lean in the direction of caution when the health of the community is at stake. Even if we did gather, the convening would be fraught with an anxiety that would undermine our deep commitment to quality programming.

In the months of planning that led up to this gathering, we were moved by the excitement, energy, and commitment of the scores of eminent presenters who agreed to share their wisdom.  And we were thrilled that more than 350 of you signed up to learn with them about the contemporary challenges at the intersection of Jewish values and American democracy.

So we intend to capitalize on that excitement. In the coming days, we will share our plans for bringing this learning to you, either in person on a different date or through virtual technologies. We will not gather in person on Sunday, March 8, but we will still learn together, soon. The Shalom Hartman Institute of North America is deeply committed to this area of work and we will find a new way to share the learning.

Next week we will send an additional communication to all those who registered for the gathering with information about refund options. And as soon as we have our plan for bringing this great learning to you, either on a different date or in different form, we will communicate that as well.
