Crisis on Rikers Island; A Conversation with Zachary Katznelson and Rabbi Hilly Haber

Rikers Island is at a breaking point. 12 people have died  since December 2020,  housing units are completely unstaffed, incarcerated people are not being brought to medical appointments or court appearances, and violence is spiking against incarcerated people and staff.

Zachary Katznelson (Executive Director of the Independent Commission on New York City Criminal Justice and Incarceration Reform) joins Rabbi Hilly Haber (Director of Social Justice Organizing and Education) to brief us on the situation and offer his insights into how we can raise our voices to ensure the health, safety, and dignity of every person detained and serving in our city's jails.
