Deena Plotka, a graduate of UCLA with a bachelor of arts in Jewish studies, speaks fluent Hebrew. For many years, she lived in Los Angeles and worked in both the corporate (beauty and film industries) and non-profit (UCLA Hillel) sectors as an executive/personal assistant.
Ten years ago, Deena moved to New York to be closer to her family, and, as project manager, implement the vision of a philanthropist/social entrepreneur in establishing a unique retail business venture. The mission was the following: to create jobs in the community, support artisans and craftsmen, establish an in-house training program for those who faced barriers to sustainable employment, and donate 100% of all profits to charity.
In her free time, Deena relishes being with friends and family. She is active in volunteering and traveling. She enjoys New York City’s gardens, farmers’ markets, and crafts fairs, as well as cultural events such as the theater and museums.
