Cindy Grebow is the Early Childhood Director at Central Synagogue, where she oversees the May Family Nursery School and Early Childhood Center classes including Toddler Time and Baby Book Club, all part of the Department of Youth and Family Engagement. Cindy joined Central two years ago from Congregation Habonim on New York’s West Side, where for fourteen years she served as Director of the Nursery School and, previously, Assistant Director and Co-Head teacher for the Threes program. Prior to Habonim, she was a teacher for several years at the 92nd Street Y’s Parenting Center, working with infants, toddlers, parents, and caregivers. Cindy represents Central Synagogue as a member of the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY), is a member of the Board of the Jewish Early Childhood Association (JECA), a member of Early Childhood Educators of Reform Judaism (ECE-RJ), a member of the Jewish Education Project’s (JEP) Peer Network for Early Childhood Directors, and a member of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). She also is a member of Central Synagogue’s Family Engagement team that is participating in an 18-month journey of growth and discovery with other congregations throughout the United States as part of the Union for Reform Judaism’s (URJ) Community of Practice focusing on Building a Brand: Excellence in Reform Movement Early Childhood Engagement.
