Olivia's background makes her especially well-suited to nurturing small groups, supporting leaders, and helping people feel truly seen and known, both in person and online. She was the first full time social worker hired for the JASAChat program in February 2021. JASAChat connects volunteers (18+) with older adults in New York for a weekly phone or video chat to reduce social isolation and foster meaningful friendships. She has been responsible for screening and training participants, pairing matches based upon mutual interests, supporting the development of peer relationships, organizing volunteers, and facilitating program evaluation.
In terms of formal education, before she graduated with a master's degree from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, Olivia pursued a double major in Social Work and English at The College at Brockport, SUNY. Before joining JASAChat, Olivia interned at the Weill Cornell Center on Aging and Behavioral Research. Olivia is also a graduate of the JPRO Ignite innovative leadership program.
Olivia is deeply inspired by Central’s commitment to inclusive, relational Jewish community, and we are confident she will be a tremendous partner in advancing this work with members and Neighbors alike.
