The Tzedek Box

A few months ago, you may have found a mysterious rectangular package from Central Synagogue in your mailbox. That is your Tzedek Box, a new ritual object that every member of Central Synagogue received to inspire righteousness and justice this year. Every time you take an action to improve our world — whether that’s volunteering, advocacy, making a donation, or engaging in listening and learning — you can reflect on the experience by adding a journal entry to the box.

When many of you hear “Shabbat,” you might immediately think of our Friday night services. But Shabbat can offer so much more – there are 25 hours in which to stop and restore our souls, to “be a blessing,” as Rabbi Buchdahl encourages us. Her powerful sermon kicked off “Get Inspired. Get Connected. Get Shabbat,” a new initiative at Central Synagogue that welcomes our community to embrace Shabbat as a meaningful experience that brings more depth to our lives.
