Sahra and William Lese Religious School

The third grade curriculum focuses on the concept of brit (covenant). Students are introduced to the brit between God and the Jewish people through a study of Torah; and they have a chance to recognize Jewish people around the world as members of a kehilah kedoshah (holy community). By exploring kadosh (holy) times, places, objects and behaviors through Jewish ritual, students perceive themselves as part of an Am Kadosh (a holy people). There is also an opportunity for experiential learning and connection through a mock-trip to Israel. In addition, the Hebrew component of third grade involves studying the Hebrew alef-bet and learning to decode Hebrew words.
