In fourth grade, students will explore Torah through the concept of brit, the covenant that God made with the Jewish people. Students will study the different covenants God made with figures from the Bible, and why there was a need to have a covenant that could evolve. Students will be challenged to think about the implications that this evolving brit has on their lives and the role that they can play in fulfilling this historical brit.
In December of the 4th Grade year, students are assigned the date on which they will become bar/bat mitzvah. Rather than mailing the dates to parents, we have created a program around this event in order to emphasize the importance of this time in a child’s life, and to bring our families closer together. During this program, families attend a Shabbat morning service in the sanctuary, learn about the b’nei mitzvah process, and learn when their special day will be.
There are no upcoming programs currently scheduled.
