Our first grade students learn to actively participate in Shabbat rituals and to recite the blessings associated with them. Creative presentations of Torah stories about our matriarchs and patriarchs enliven the curriculum. Through prayer, holidays, and mitzvoth, the students explore the concepts of kavod (respect/honor) and g'milut chasadim (acts of loving kindness.) As in kindergarten, each week begins with a half hour of music and prayer.
