Program Giving Opportunities
Contributions in all amounts help support a wide variety of projects and programs at Central Synagogue. Gifts are a wonderful way to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, the arrival of a child - or to honor the life of someone who has passed away. - Adult Education
- Contributions help a variety of Adult Education classes including Lunch & Learn, Talmud Study and Hebrew Study.
- Archives Fund:
- Contributions help the Archives Committee collect and process current and historical materials relating to Central Synagogue, its clergy, members and programs.
- Caring Committee:
- Contributions help volunteers prepare a brown bag lunch and serve a hot breakfast twice each week for homeless men and women.
- Clergy Discretionary Funds:
- Contributions allow the clergy to make donations as they see fit.

- Eric Wasserman Fund:
- Contributions to this fund, established by the Wasserman family, furthers social action activities at Central Synagogue.
- General Fund:
- Contributions offset ongoing operational costs for Central Synagogue.
- Israel Youth Fund:
- Contributions provide scholarships that send Central Synagogue youth on educational trips to Israel.
- Kehilah Fund:
- Contributions to this fund, established by the Stone family, help welcome new members and maintain as congregants those who cannot afford full dues and/or fees.
- Library Fund:
- Contributions help with upkeep and renewal of the Library collection.
- Mildred Ross Fund:
- Contributions help underwrite scholarships and special projects for the May Family Nursery School.
- Mitzvah Fund:
- Contributions aid the general operating budget by providing funds for flowers or food baskets for members who are ill, for those who have suffered a loss and for holiday packages to homebound or ailing members.
- Mitzvah Day Fund:
- Contributions support the activities of Mitzvah Day, an annual opportunity for congregants to volunteer as a group in the greater community.
- Music Fund:
- Contributions help assure that beautiful music programming continues to enrich the Synagogue and its members, as well as the community at large.
- Nursery School Enrichment Fund:
- Contributions provide support for the May Family Nursery School.
- Oneg Shabbat/Kiddush Fund
- Contributions help defray the costs of Friday Night Onegs.
- Prayer Book Fund:
- Contributions support the purchase of prayer books for daily, Shabbat and High Holy Day worship services, as well as copies of The Torah-A Modern Commentary.
- Prayer books for daily, Shabbat and High Holy Day worship services: A donation of $54 or above includes a bookplate placed in a book.
- Yahrzeit Fund:
- Contributions support the Synagogue's general operating fund. It is a Jewish custom to make a donation on the anniversary of the death of our dear ones. It is also a custom to contribute at the time of listing a name in the Synagogue's annual Memory Book, distributed during Yizkor on Yom Kippur.
