Becoming a Member

At Central Synagogue

Central Synagogue is a membership-based community. Our members have a voice in shaping this community, and demonstrate their commitment to its future, to the future of Reform Judaism, and to progressive Jewish values in the world.

Thank you for your interest in joining Central Synagogue!

We are not accepting new members before this year’s High Holy Days, but we invite you to join us at our High Holy Days Community Services.

These are full services conveniently held across the street from our sanctuary in Central’s Community House. All services are officiated by our clergy and are complete with music, and we have guests who join us for them year after year.

If you have any questions about these services, please call or email Star Smith at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or 212-838-5122 ext. 2000. To purchase tickets, please complete this form.

Our Community

Central Synagogue is an inclusive and welcoming community. We encourage participation from all who seek a connection to Jewish life and want to be part of our sacred community regardless of religious background, race, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, ability, age, sexual orientation and gender identity. In order to best meet the needs of our community, we limit our membership to 2,300 households. To have your name added to our waiting list, please fill out the form below. We will contact you as space becomes available—we are typically able to extend an invitation to join within 18–24 months.

We encourage and welcome the larger community to engage with us. Much of our programming is open to all, including Shabbat worship, adult education, and social justice opportunities. We invite you to explore our calendar and experience the Central Synagogue community.
